Travels to Iraq

My travels to North Iraq was special time for me. I've persuade the Spirit of Adventure ever since my youth, never shying away from my fears but always looking for something new to scare me. My first trip to the Middle East took place at the hight of the Syria civil war and I was not ready for what happened, my experience had left me emotionally and physically scarred. I had developed a mild case of PTSD, my mind was consumed with what I witnessed. I could not sleep at night, I did not want to eat. My heart was filled with a hatred like I have never experienced before. Naturally this was not healthy.
However the love of Jesus Christ knows no limits and His ability to heal the broken hearted is proof of His love. I began praying and asking for His help, asking God to remove the hatred I was feeling. I do not wish to tell you what I witnessed but it was not the attempted abductions I mentioned in previous post, however I want you to know I never wished to travel to the Middle East again, until the Lord opened a door for another trip. A trip to North Iraq.
We traveled on mission with the hope of sharing the Christ's love with everyone. And Iraq was going to be a perfect opportunity, for thousands of Syrian refugees flooded over the border into North Iraq and the Lord traded my hatred for a strange love and comparison. A love and comparison that could only come from God. We visited a refugee camps that had thousands of families, unfortunately we were strictly told not to take photos.
Maybe because the camps were so bad that people were dying in them. However we were allowed in and we brought food, blanket and Bibles with us to the Muslim refugees. The Bibles were not on the list of things we were bringing.
The Lord used this time for me to really understand why it is important to pray for people and tell them simply that Jesus loves them.

My time in the Middle East did not end there, but continued with farther travels to help refugees.
